Photoshop CS4 for Color Blindness

The most often to occur, color blindness are Protanopia and Deuteronopia. Protanopia is Lacking the long-wavelength sensitive retinal cones, those with this condition are unable to distinguish between colors in the green-yellow-red section of the spectrum.
While Deuteronopia is lacking the medium-wavelength cones, those affected are again unable to distinguish between colors in the green-yellow-red section of the spectrum. More info about color blindness can be found in Wikipedia.

I stumbled across the Protanopia setting in Photoshop the other day. For me it appeared to have no effect, as I am colorblind – but it certainly assisted in demonstrating to others how I see colours, at different values to them. Now if only the Adobe folk could develop a program that would expand the gamut of the colors I use in my images in a realistic way so my color-challenged productions would be seen more naturally by folk with normal color vision, that would really be something.
@David B: Thanks for your feedback. I hope the next Photoshop version will get a better colorblind setting.

I have just found out my 5 yr old son is colour blind. It all makes perfect sense now. His art is always one brown splodge. I would love to know how to help him. Maybe just put out blue and yellow paint for him only? Enough of a contrast for him to start keeping them separate? I don’t have the understanding to know where to begin choosing the right colours and he doesn’t have the vocabulary (or understanding; I haven’t told him he is colour blind, he just thinks the world is the same to everyone). Would be great to get a response from an adult who sees things how he does.

I was wondering if there was a way to save the image once in either of these views. I have done some research and had no luck in obtaining a clear answer. I would really appreciate it if someone can help me. Thanks!
@Val: I haven’t find how to save it too. But if you only need small image (as big as the monitor screen) and the image only at 72 dpi, you can use PrintScreen key to capture it.
