Photoshop CS4 Dodge-Burn Tool Feature

I will make the grass color lighter a bit. I use Dodge tool, with the Protect tones ON, and here is the result:

Now, I undo that step, so the image back to previous state. You can undo Photoshop step by utilizing History panel, or press Ctrl + Alt + Z. But to do it quicker, because I remember the original state is still the same, I can also press F12 or File > Revert.

This time I use Dodge tool again, but with Protect tones turned OFF. And here is the result:

It is too bright, don’t you think? I just dodge it once, with the same brush size, same color range, and same exposure value. This is show us one of Photoshop CS4 feature’s improvement.
