Adding Text on Own Photo using Photoshop

This tutorial Photoshop will show the most basic way to add texts on a photo or images. It is very simple but essential, and should be learning from the beginning. Photoshop has type tools which mainly use to make texts. There are four kinds of type tools, the horizontal type tool, vertical type tool, horizontal type mask tool, and vertical type mask tool. All of them have same function, to type. Mask type tool will make a selection, not a regular text as the other two.
Ny adding text, we can personalize our own photo, for example by make it as watermark. Very usable also to add some note about your memorable photos. While we type on a bitmap image / photos, the text itself is in vector shape. So we can manually resize the text with Edit > Free Transform without having the font being unreadable of blurry. I will write more about vector object sometime.
Open any image or photo you want add text on it. I use a Windows XP wallpaper for this. You can also use a blank new image for this tutorial.
Select Type tool on the Photoshop toolbox. Then, click one on the image using the Type pointer. Now you are ready to type.
If you need to change the font, the size, color etc. you can use the option bar. Notice that the option bar will change to display the font property after we select type tool. You must select the words you have type so the font adjustment will take effect. Alternatively, you can double click the T thumbnail on the layer panel to quick select the words.

Here you can adjust the font face, font weight, font size (which you can also type the number manually here), font effects, and the rectangle one is to select font color. There are still two more of this option, the Warp Text and the Character panel.
