There are two type of selection tools in Photoshop CS4 which can be use to make a quick selection, especially for images/photos that has similar color. Those tools are Magic Wand tool and Quick Selection tool. Magic wand is available since earlier Photoshop version, while the Quick Selection tool is available in later Photoshop version as complement to its predecessor.

By default setting, tools, option bar, and some panel are visible in Photoshop. But to make it more convenient to use, we can adjust the workspace and we can also hide/unhide the tool box and option bar too. If we just need to expand the Photoshop CS4 window view so the entire bar and tools disappears for awhile, we can simply press Tab key. Gif is one of image file formats which have abilities to create empty/transparent background with small size. You can make transparent background in any other file format such psd, but due the compatibility and image size, some people prefer to use gif as output format. For example if you want to put it on the web. Gif file with transparent background can be made by deleting the background first and then save it in gif format or you can save original image directly in to gif and make it transparent with the gif setting. Sometimes we need to get a smaller image file, mostly to save time and bandwidth usage for uploading it in internet. Except for some web service that limit our photo size such as Facebook that will standardize the file size to fit to their page wide. We don’t need to adjust the photo because no matter how big we upload the file, the result still be the same. But we can save some uploading time if we make the file size smaller.
We don’t have to reduce the file size if we want to save our work in Photoshop in to hard drive storage or Compact Disc. I usually save a large image file, in jpg or psd, just in case I need to edit them later.
Jpg file is one of the smallest file that popular to use. It has compression system that we can adjust to make the file smaller as possible. Of course we have to notice the image quality, because as smaller the file will be, the less quality the images are.
